3 Libido-Boosting Tips for Menopausal Women 

Decreased sexual desire is a common side effect of aging.  According to Menopause.org, our sexual desire is made up of

— Drive (which is the biological component)

— Beliefs and values (religious or societal, for instance)

— Motivation (a woman’s emotional response, like being in a caring or exciting relationship)

So, you’re in an affectionate relationship (Motivation) with a smoking hot man or woman that you, your friends, and family like (Values and Beliefs). What happens when the biological component (Drive) is adversely affected by age?  The sexual desire can drop like a 2-legged barstool. Around 30% of U.S. women say they are experiencing a low sex drive. One in three of those women are troubled by it.  What does a woman who wants to amp up her sex life do?

We asked Dr. Leah Millheiser, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of OB/GYN and Director of the Female Sexual Medicine Program at Stanford University her thoughts. With that title and the experience that goes behind it, we know Dr. Millheiser She came back with three libido-boosting tips that are quick and easy.

Libido-Boosting Tip #1

When you’re still interested in sex & intimacy, but you become lazy at the thought of getting excited and in the mood. 

As we age and/or settle into long-term relationships, women’s bodies and brains often respond differently to sexual stimuli. While many men retain the “zero-to-sixty” arousal reflex, it often takes more time and effort for a woman’s body to rise to the occasion for sex.

What you can do: Remember that a little effort goes a long way.  That part of your life doesn’t have to be over. Jump-start the romance early in the day with a backrub, a sexy note in his pocket, or a sweet nothing or two over breakfast.  Talk to your partner about what turns you on.  Fiera is a new personal care product that works with a woman’s body to enhance sexual arousal and increase desire, naturally.  Keep it handy for some exciting “before-play” and get in the mood for sex.

Decreased sexual pleasure. Another common hindrance to sexual desire is experiencing less intense orgasms after menopause.
